Zdenek Klauda

Zdeněk Klauda is currently a permanent member of the National Theatre in Prague. He has been involved in music since childhood, starting with playing the flute and piano, and later studying composition and conducting. He is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

In 2008, he was invited to stage Dvořák's Rusalka at the Salzburg Festival, which began his regular work in prestigious European opera houses, including the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Semper Opera in Dresden, the Vienna State Opera and the Paris National Opera. In 2012, he participated in the musical production of Janáček's The Adventures of the Cunning Vixen for the Glyndebourne Festival and in the following season Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro there. That same year, he won 3rd prize at the conductor's competition in Constanta, Romania. As an assistant, he collaborated with prominent conductors, including Franz Welser-Möst, Kyrill Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski and Tomáš Netopil.

He is considered a specialist in the music of pre-Romantic Czech composers, especially the work of Jakub Jan Ryba, whose legacy he has long cherished and is a co-founder of a festival dedicated to his work. He received the prestigious Diapason D'Or award for his recording of Ryba's Stabat Mater.
