Katerina Knezikova

Soprano Kateřina Kněžíková is a prominent figure on the Czech and international music scene. She graduated from the Prague Conservatory and the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Since 2006, she has been a permanent member of the National Theatre Opera, where she has performed a number of important roles from the Czech and international repertoire, including in the operas Rusalka, Cosí fan tutte, Carmen, Jenůfí pastorkyňa, The Bartered Bride and The Adventures of the Cunning Fox.

In addition to opera, she is increasingly focusing on concert and song repertoire. The works of Antonín Dvořák, Bohuslav Martinů and Leoš Janáček occupy a central place in her program. She regularly performs at prestigious festivals at home and abroad and collaborates with important world-class orchestras and conductors.

She is the recipient of the Classic Prague Awards 2018 for best chamber performance and the Thalia Award 2019 for outstanding stage performance in the production of Julietta or the Dreamer. Her profile album Phidylé (Supraphon, 2021) received international recognition, including the BBC Music Magazine Awards in the “Vocal” category. Other successful recording collaborations followed, including with Jakub Hrůša and the Bamberger Symphoniker on the album Tag und Nacht.

In recent seasons, she has also drawn significant attention on foreign stages - she debuted at New York's Carnegie Hall with the Czech Philharmonic and performed at London's Royal Opera House . At the turn of the 2025/2026 season, she shone as Rusalka at the Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, where her performance received exceptionally enthusiastic reviews.
