Dalibor Karvay

Slovak violinist Dalibor Karvay began playing the violin at the age of three under the guidance of his father. He drew attention to himself while studying at the Art School, when he made several recordings for the Slovak Radio. At the age of eight, he won the Gold Prize at the International Kocián Violin Competition, and at the age of eleven he released his first CD. In the following years, he became the winner of a number of international competitions.

Today, he performs all over the world, collaborating with prestigious orchestras. As a soloist, Dalibor Karvay has collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Leif Segerstam, Ion Marin, Hiroyuki Iwaki, Jaap van Zweden, Marek Janowski, Alexander Rahbari, Benjamin Wallfisch, Ondrej Lenárd, Oliver Dohnányi, etc. His list of collaborations with orchestras includes: Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Het Gelders Orkest, Solistes Européens Luxembourg, Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, State Chamber Orchestra Žilina, etc. As a chamber player, Karvay has collaborated with outstanding international musicians, including Radek Baborák, Julian Rachlin, Wenzel Fuchs, Boris Kuschnir, Magda Amara, Stefan Stroissnig and Daniel Buranovsky among others.

Dalibor's violin is an Antonio Stradivari, Cremona 1694 , "ex Benecke", on loan from the Oesterreichischen Nationalbank.
