Academy Kroměříž 2026 will connect young talents with leading musicians. Applications are open

The International Summer Academy, for the ninth time this year in Kroměříž, will offer young musicians an intensive week of lessons, an individual approach and work with leading figures of the Czech and European music scene. Its lecturers will include, for example, Kateřina Kněžíková, Ivo Kahánek and Fedor Rudin from 13 to 20 August 2026. Those interested in studying can apply until 20 May.

This year, the Academy Kroměříž offers lessons in solo music, chamber string ensembles and cultural management. It is intended for students of conservatories, music colleges and young artists who want to further develop their performance skills and gain practical experience in professional music. Applications for the upcoming ninth year are now open. Interested parties can submit their applications on the academy's website until May 20.

"I see Academy Kroměříž as a space for intensive meetings of generations, sharing experiences and honest work on music. We want to offer young artists the most realistic view of the profession of a concert musician and at the same time give them an impetus for further development."," said the academy's co-founder, conductor Tomáš Netopil, who is also the artistic director of the concurrent festival.

The Academy emphasizes the personal approach of lecturers, systematic work with talent and the connection of study with practice. The lessons will be led by prominent personalities of the contemporary music scene. After a year's break, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková will once again focus on opera singing. Violin lessons will be led by Fedor Rudin and Dalibor Karvay, and piano lessons will be provided by Ivo Kahánek. The cello class will be led by Michaela Fukačová, viola and chamber music lessons by Pavel Nikl, and the academic orchestra by Tomáš Netopil. The area of ​​piano cooperation will be covered by Zdeněk Klauda, ​​and cultural management with a focus on marketing, planning, financing, PR and promotion will be addressed by Marek Šulc, the Academy's executive director Jana Kubáčová and Irena Pohl Houkalová. The latter will share her experience, especially from projects at elementary art schools.

Who is behind the Academy Kroměříž project?
The main artistic personality of the project and one of the founders is the conductor and Kroměříž native, Tomas NetopilHe is behind the idea of ​​the academy, is its artistic director and prepares the festival's concert program.
Another founder and president of the association is Jana Kubáčová, executive director of the Academy, and director of the Živý Zlín cultural center. She is responsible for the complete operation of the academy.

We awarded the best students of this year's Academy Kroměříž

The 8th Academy Kroměříž concluded with a final concert full of emotions, masterful performances and standing ovations. During the evening, the laureates of 2025 were also announced – young violinist Filip Fehér, the Kubitov Quartet and special award winners Pavel Divín, David Pěruška and Anton Aslamas. All of them have thus been included among the talents that will be heard on large concert stages in the future.

Filip Fehér (*2012) – violin
Lecturer: Dalibor Karvay
Filip Fehér comes from Galanta and the violin became his destiny at the age of three. Today, at the age of thirteen, he is one of the greatest talents of his generation. He attends the Elementary School in Čierny Brod and at the same time studies privately with the violinist Dalibor Karvay in Vienna. His determination and talent soon became evident in competitions - in 2022 he won first prize with distinction in the prestigious Prima la Musica competition of Viennese music schools. He spends three hours practicing every day and dreams of a career as a soloist on the world's big stages.

Kubit Quartet
Lecturer: Pavel Nikl
The Kubitov Quartet is a young ensemble founded in June 2024, made up of graduates of the Orchestral Academy of the Czech Philharmonic. Although it has only existed for a short time, it has already managed to perform abroad – for example, at the Czech Center in New York. The quartet is led by violinist Filip Kubita (1st violin), and is accompanied by Kateřina Vítečková (2nd violin), Michaela Sedláčková (viola) and Petr Hamerský (violoncello). The ensemble develops its interpretation under the leadership of prominent figures of the Czech music scene – Jiří Panocha and Irena Jakubcová. Despite its short existence, it shows great potential to become a prominent Czech chamber music ensemble.

David Pěruška (*2002) – cello
Special Award | Lecturer: Michaela Fukačová
David Pěruška has been playing the cello since the age of five. Since childhood, he has been collecting awards at Czech and international competitions - for example, at the National Competition of the Czech Music School, at the competition in Liezen or at Concertino Praga, where in 2021 he and Kristián Mráček won the absolute victory in the chamber category. In 2022, he became a laureate of the Gustav Mahler Prize competition and performed with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava. In addition to his solo career, he is also engaged in chamber music, performing alongside leading Czech and foreign artists and participating in courses by world-renowned professors. In 2024, he presented himself as a member of the UN Youth Orchestra under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach at Carnegie Hall in New York. He is currently studying at the HAMU in Prague with Prof. Mikael Ericsson.

Anton Aslamas (*1988) – piano collaboration
Special Award | Lecturer: Zdeněk Klauda
Pianist, composer and accompanist Anton Aslamas comes from a musical family. He studied at the Brno Conservatory, later at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts and also in Dresden. As a composer and performer, he has won numerous awards and his works have been performed, for example, by the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic and the Pilsen Philharmonic. He collaborates with leading Czech and foreign performers, including violinist Milan Paľa and baritone Filip Bandžak. He also devotes himself to notation and arranging compositions. He works as an accompanist at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and VOŠ and his work is appreciated for its extraordinary musical versatility.

Pavel Divín (*1993) – vocals (baritone)

Baritone Pavel Divín is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, where he studied with Martin Gurbaľ. Since 2023, he has been a laureate of the International Antonín Dvořák Competition in Karlovy Vary. He collaborates with the opera ensemble of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, where he participates in a number of productions. His interpretative confidence, distinctive baritone and ability for musical expression place him among the young singing generation, from whom the professional public and the audience expect much.

The highlight of this year's Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž was yesterday's showcase of young talents and a performance by the chamber academic orchestra. This year's laureates were also announced. 57 students from 6 countries around the world participated in the Academy this year.

A week full of extraordinary musical experiences, lessons under the guidance of world-renowned classical music figures, intensive rehearsals, but also meetings and new friendships – that was the 6th year of the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy. On Thursday, August 24, it was concluded at the Nadsklepí Cinema with a concert consisting of solo performances by students across individual disciplines, as well as a chamber academic orchestra. The orchestra had been preparing for the final evening throughout the week under the leadership of Tomáš Netopil, conductor and artistic director of the Summer Music Academy. The orchestra performed the composition Moravian Dance by Jiří Pavlica, who personally came to Kroměříž to perform it.

The concert concluded with the presentation of awards to the best students of this year's academy. The Kroměříž Summer Music Academy award was received by the cellist Stepanka Plockova, who has participated in the Kroměříž Academy several times under the guidance of Michaela Fukačová. "Štěpánka is the type of musician who, with her intensity and refined sense of beauty, can touch and caress her listeners, which is a huge gift. Her playing is distinctive and soulful, and I am convinced that she has a bright future ahead of her," explained cellist Michaela Fukačová.

Also to a thirteen-year-old pianist Adam Znamirovsky His talent brought him awards at this year's academy. "In addition to his exceptional technical skills, Adam has shown this year how he has matured musically over the past year. In addition to the financial reward, both students will receive the opportunity to perform in a half-recital at the friendly Leoš Janáček International Music Festival in 2024.

Another recipient of the Summer Music Academy Award is a baritone Radek Martinec, who will be a performer at one of the upcoming major concerts of the Kroměříž Music Festival during the next year of the academy.

A student of piano collaboration won a special award at the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy Tomas Kalousek, whose management of the academy particularly appreciated his great progress during his stay at the academy and his professional performance at the "Opera Gala" concert.

"This year we once again had top lecturers and talented students across all fields. We offered the public exceptional concerts and after several years we were able to use the beautiful spaces of the renovated Chamber Hall of the Archbishop's Castle in Kroměříž," assessed the conductor and artistic director of LHAK Tomáš Netopil and added: "We are pleased with the interest of the audience, who attended in large numbers not only the big concerts with star casts, but also found their way to the performances of our students."

During the accompanying program of the academy, classical music lovers can expect, for example, the festive symphonic concert Consecration of the House, which the organizers are preparing for Sunday, August 20, in the renovated premises of the Chamber Hall of the Archbishop's Palace. In addition to the great performances of the three best students from last year, the concert will also present a rarity. "During the evening, the elite world conductor and artistic director of the Kroměříž Academy, Tomáš NETOPIL, will be replaced by violinist and conductor Fedor Rudin in the leadership of the orchestra," pointed out the executive director Jana Kubáčová and invited to the other program of the Hudební Kroměříž festival: "The baroque concert will also be unusual, offering a glimpse into the local extraordinary music archive, Professor Cyril Höschl will return after years with an engaging lecture, the Opera Gala will present the students of the world singer Adam Plachetka and a composition by Jiří Pavlica will be performed."

The 5th year of the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy culminated in a spectacular concert of Mozart arias performed by Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka. During the evening, the best students of the academy also received awards. An exceptional musical experience in the Greenhouse in the Flower Garden concluded the 5th year of the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy and its accompanying festival, the Kroměříž Music Festival, on Friday evening. In addition to the academy lecturers, the PKF – Prague Philharmonia performed at the concert under the leadership of conductor Tomáš Netopil. The academy, which was founded 5 years ago by this Kroměříž native and conductor, was graduated by 57 active participants this year.

The final concert was preceded by scenes from famous Mozart operas in the greenhouses of the Flower Garden, which were intended to transport the audience back in time and evoke the atmosphere of the upcoming concert. In addition to compositions by WA Mozart, the concert also offered compositions by Antonín Dvořák, in which the soloists were the lecturers and well-known figures of classical music such as cellist Michaela Fukačová, violinist Fedor Rudin, and violist Pavel Nikl.

This year, the Academy also awarded a special prize to a student who impressed the lecturers with her extraordinary talent. The Slovak singer received the award from the Minister of Finance, Zbyněk Stanjury. Nina Krížová.

"We had fantastic students across all disciplines. I am very happy that many of them are returning to us and we are also seeing their development, which of course our lecturers really appreciate. It is not just about that one week together, but the lecturers meet with many of them for the second or third time and can watch them improve during the school year," evaluated the conductor and artistic director of LHAK Tomáš Netopil, adding that the entire week was truly very substantial and comprehensive and corresponds to the idea of ​​what the academy should look like - that is, high-quality teaching for all students combined with discussions and lectures and the opportunity to meet and get to know new people.

The evening culminated with opera arias from Mozart's operas performed by soprano Kateřina Kněžíková and baritone Adam Plachetka, who delighted the audience with two duets at the end of the concert, for which they received huge ovations from the sold-out hall.

The fifth year of the Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž provided an opportunity for 57 active and ten passive participants from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, France, Serbia, Poland, Russia, and the Netherlands to develop themselves. The lessons were taught in eight disciplines under the guidance of world-class musicians such as cellist Michaela Fukačová, pianist Ivo Kahánek, violinist Fedor Rudin, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, and harpsichordist Barbara Maria Willi. The viola lessons were led by Pavel Nikl, piano collaboration by Zdeněk Klauda, ​​and music projects by David Mareček.

This year's academy also brought attractive musical experiences to the general public as part of the accompanying festival Hudební Kroměříž. Concerts and discussions offered meetings with both musical personalities and young participants of the summer academy.

In the 5 years of its operation, more than 300 active students in violin, viola, double bass, cello, singing, harpsichord, French horn, trombone, chamber music, orchestral music, music management have passed through the academy. A total of 50 concerts, discussions and lectures took place as part of the Kroměříž Music Festival.

The project partners are the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Zlín Region, the City of Kroměříž, OK Holding, the National Institute of Monuments. The next, already 6th, international Summer Music Academy will take place from August 18th to 25th, 2023.

Yesterday's concert in the Květná zahrady Greenhouse was held in a festive spirit. It was dedicated to Václav Hudeček on his jubilee this year.

The concert symbolically connected two beautiful projects – the Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž and the Hudeček Academy in Luhačovice. Both academies are based on the idea that it is necessary to invest energy, finances and time in the cultural development of future generations.

Proof that it makes sense was the performance by representatives of the upcoming generation of musicians. Last year's laureates of the Kroměříž Academy – violinist David Hernych and cellist David Prechal – performed their solo compositions accompanied by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic.

At the end of the concert, Václav Hudeček received the “Thank you for your contribution to music education for future generations” from conductor Tomáš Netopil. The highlight of the evening was the joint performance of both young laureates with Václav Hudeček, highlighted by the unique setting of the Flower Garden Greenhouse.

In the afternoon, a meeting of two great musical personalities took place at the Nadsklepí Cinema as part of the discussion Life with a Violin. Violinist Václav Hudeček, who visited Kroměříž with his wife Eva, was interviewed by violinist conductor Tomáš Netopil.

Tomáš Netopil began the conversation with an unconventional request for an autograph. He brought with him Václav Hudeček's first released album, which he had enjoyed listening to at a young age, thus fulfilling his childhood dream of getting an autograph from the master.

During the interview, Václav Hudeček recalled his musical beginnings, his pedagogical role models, and his first successes. He also looked back at the founding of his academy, which, like ours, has its roots in Kroměříž."The first years of the courses were held in Kroměříž. At that time, I had no teaching experience. After it was moved to Luhačovice and the departure of its founder, the academy was essentially left on my shoulders," Václav Hudeček returned to the beginnings of the academy.

In addition to leading the summer academy, both share an opinion about the feelings of playing in front of an audience. "On stage, I feel like I'm someone else," Václav Hudeček confided to the audience, adding that it doesn't matter whether a musician plays from notes or from memory, what's important is to play well."I am still amazed that new compositions are constantly being created on the seven notes of the scale."

There was also talk about what the secret to success is or how difficult it is to assess students' talent? And questions were also answered by the students present and other supporters of Václav Hudeček.

At the end of the discussion, Václav Hudeček confided that he had always wanted to expand the academy to other musical disciplines. "I am happy that Tomáš Netopil succeeded and that students of the Hudeček Academy are also winning prizes at his academy," Hudeček concluded.

Tomáš Netopil also invited to the Sunday concert in the Flower Garden, where Václav Hudeček will perform at 19:00 p.m. as part of the Festive Symphony Concert.

The fifth annual classical music festival Hudební Kroměříž begins today. The entire festival will open with the concert "Le retour de la Paix" (The Return of Peace) at 19.00:XNUMX p.m. in the Rotunda of the Flower Garden. The Collegium Colloredo Orchestra, violinists Tomáš Netopil and Jana Chytilová Anýžová, cellist Petra Čadová Machková, lute player Karel Fleischlinger, harpsichordist Barbara Maria Willi and soprano Markéta Klaudová will perform.

Although there are still three weeks left until the end of the summer holidays, almost sixty students from the Czech Republic and abroad will be heading to Kroměříž in just a few days. The international educational project Summer Music Academy for young talented musicians and its accompanying festival Hudební Kroměříž with a program for the public will start here. The concert will begin on Friday, August 12th. "The Return of Peace" in the Rotunda of the Flower Garden.

From August 12th to 20th, students in the classrooms of the Kroměříž Elementary School and the PJ Vejvanovský Kroměříž Conservatory will be taught by extraordinary figures of classical music. "Some students have already achieved great success in competitions in our country and around the world. Many of them return to us repeatedly to take advantage of the unique opportunity to develop their talent together with top lecturers," explained the project's artistic director, conductor and Kroměříž native Tomáš Netopil, adding: "In addition, they can transform their newly acquired experience during the academy into breathtaking musical performances for the public at concerts of the Hudební Kroměříž festival."

The academy's lecturers will once again include soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, cellist Michaela Fukačová, harpsichordist Barbara Maria Willi, pianist Ivo Kahánek, violinist Fedor Rudin, and violist Pavel Nikl. The study for music managers will once again be led by the general director of the Czech Philharmonic, David Mareček, and the teaching of accompanists will be led by Zdeněk Klauda. Most of the lecturers will also present themselves to the public as part of the upcoming concerts. "In addition to the academy's teachers, other musical guests will also arrive, such as violinist Václav Hudeček, to whom Sunday's Gala Symphony Concert in the Květná zahrady Greenhouse will be dedicated. It will also be possible to meet him during Saturday's discussion with Tomáš Netopil," added Jana Kubáčová, executive director of the Summer Music Academy. She also pointed out the novelties of this year's unique year: "For the first time, for example, we will take a thematic look at the field of folklore. Tomáš Netopil's guest at one of the discussions will be musician and folklorist Jiří Pavlica.""," added Kubáčová.

An absolutely exceptional musical and dramatic experience awaits visitors and guests of the final concert entitled The Return of Amadeus. For the first time in the framework of Music Kroměříž, Mozart's melodies will be highlighted by an extraordinary scenography set in the Flower Garden environment and by a star-studded cast of lecturers. Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka will also perform together for the first time within the academy. Together with other soloists, they will be accompanied by the PKF – Prague Philharmonia under the direction of conductor Tomáš Netopil.

As part of the program, a lecture about musical life at Kroměříž Castle and the unique music archive has also been prepared in cooperation with the Archdiocesan Museum of Kroměříž and the Museum of Art Olomouc, which will take place on Wednesday, August 17, at the Nadsklepí Cinema.

However, the anniversary year will also bring a number of new features. For example, for the first time we will be taking a thematic look at the field of folklore. Tomáš Netopil will be the guest at one of the discussions namely, the musician and folklorist Jiří Pavlica will be there.

An absolutely exceptional musical and dramatic experience awaits visitors and guests of the final concert entitled The Return of Amadeus. Mozart's melodies will be highlighted for the first time within the framework of the Music Kroměříž Festival by an extraordinary scenography set in the magical environment of the Flower Garden and by a star-studded cast of lecturers. For the first time within the academy, Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka will also perform together, as well as soloists Michaela Fukačová (cello), Fedor Rudin (violin) and Pavel Nikl (viola), accompanied by the PKF – Prague Philharmonia under the direction of conductor Tomáš Netopil.

Another novelty and variety for students will be the opportunity on August 15th and 16th to appreciate (and, most importantly, taste) the culinary art of chef Tomáš Reger from the Brno Element restaurant, who, like the academy's lecturers, has gained experience all over the world. And, like Tomáš Netopil, he comes from Kroměříž.

Every year, students also have the opportunity to gain useful information and skills important for their musical career. In previous years, they have learned, for example, how to cope with stage fright or how to communicate with the media. This year, they will have the opportunity to discuss with a medical expert. During a lecture by MUDr. Jitka Vydrová, they can find the answer to the question of what a singer should know about their vocal instrument.

The international project Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž offers for the fifth time this year the opportunity for young talented students of various musical fields to improve their "discipline" under the guidance of top lecturers working in our country and abroad. It is also an opportunity for them to perform on stage alongside their musical role models, often accompanied by a large orchestra, and to present their art to the general public as part of the Kroměříž Music Festival.

This year, several laureates from last year and previous graduates of the academy will once again have this prestigious privilege. The youngest of them, Nora Lubbadová, a thirteen-year-old exceptionally gifted pianist, has, despite her young age, a number of significant awards and prestigious musical experience on the domestic and international stage. Her latest successes include this year's 1st prize in solo piano and in the piano concerto category, the Prize for the best performance of a Chopin work and the GRAND PRIZE. As part of this year's edition, she will perform together with Ivo Kahánek during Piano recital on Saturday, August 13th at the Nadsklepí cinema.

At Festive symphony concert On Sunday, August 14, the Květná zahrady Greenhouse will host a performance by seventeen-year-old cellist Tomáš Prechal, who lives in the Netherlands. Last year, he shone at the Kroměříž Academy and became one of the award-winning laureates. In addition to playing the cello since the age of five, he began composing at the age of eleven. He will be joined by another last year's award-winning student, violinist David Hernych, at this concert in honor of Václav Hudeček, to whose anniversary the concert is dedicated. As a soloist, at the age of eighteen, he has collaborated with leading Czech conductors such as Petr Vronský, Radek Baborák, Ondřej Vrabec and Jakub Klecker.

Already within The opening concert of Return of Peace  On Friday, August 12, a former graduate of the academy, a student from Kateřina Kněžíková's class, and currently a successful soprano, Markéta Klaudová, who has been performing early music for many years, will perform in the Rotunda, accompanied by the Collegium Colloredo Orchestra.

He was so enchanted by the city and the atmosphere of the academy that he enthusiastically accepted our invitation again this year. We are very happy that one of the most unique concert artists of the current generation will strengthen our teaching team," said the artistic director of the academy, Tomáš Netopil.

Every year, the academy also includes a special program focused on music management under the leadership of the General Director of the Czech Philharmonic, David Mareček. "Until now, its students have not had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in practice directly during the academy. This year, however, its participants will have the unique opportunity to participate in the complete preparation and production of the ceremonial final concert for the first time. The academy, founded by conductor and Kroměříž native Tomáš Netopil, was graduated by 78 participants this year under the guidance of renowned lecturers. The project also prepared an accompanying program for the general public.

At the beginning of the gala concert, the students played a new work by the young composer Lukáš Sommer, entitled Dvořák Airlines, who watched the young musicians' performances from the audience. "It is admirable how well and with what dedication the students were able to study not only this piece, but also other pieces by Joseph Haydn and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in record time," said artistic director Tomáš Netopil, who led the orchestral academy and prepared the concert with the students. He also explained the purpose of the student orchestra, which will also be presented under the name Young Philharmonics as part of the prestigious Dvořák Prague festival on September 14. "Our goal is to provide high school and university students with active experience in professional preparation for concert performances of studied compositions," added Tomas Netopil.

Last year's laureate, cellist Adam Klánský, performed as a soloist with the students. During the concert, the exceptionally talented students of this year's academy were announced. The main award with financial reward went to the three best students of the academy. Zlín Region Award received from the hands of the Councilor for Culture Zuzana Fišerová, the Dutch cellist and composer Tomas Prechal.  Academy of Classical Music Award presented by the director of Dvořák's Prague, Jan Simon, to the youngest participant, a twelve-year-old pianist Nora Lubbadová a Kroměříž Summer Music Academy Award received from the hands of artistic director Tomáš Netopil the violinist David Hernych. All award winners will become laureates of the Summer Music Academy and will perform at the Music Kroměříž festival in 2022.

This year, the Academy again awarded a special prize to a student who impressed the lecturers with his extraordinary talent. Vojtěch Červenka from the Piano Collaboration department received the prize.

The fourth year of the Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž provided an opportunity for 63 active and 15 passive participants to develop their musical fields. The lessons were conducted in ten fields under the guidance of world-class musicians such as cellist Michaela Fukačová, pianist Ivo Kahánek, violinist Jiří Vodička, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, harpsichordist Barbara Maria Willi, and newly also double bassist Petr Ries and Russian-French violinist Fedor Rudin, among others.

The Academy also brought attractive musical experiences to the general public as part of the accompanying festival Hudební Kroměříž. Concerts and discussions offered meetings with both musical personalities and young participants of the summer academy.  "The novelty of this year's academy was not only the orchestral academy, but also an expert forum on the future of culture with representatives of Czech culture," added Jana Kubáčová, executive director of the Summer Music Academy.

The next, 5th annual International Summer Music Academy will take place from August 12th to 19th, 2022. "With the program that the academy will bring next year, we want to emphasize even more the quality that our academy offers. But we will also draw attention to the tradition of art education in Kroměříž," Jana Kubáčová has already outlined her intentions.

At this year's Summer Music Academy, she not only briefly introduced herself as a great singer in a baroque concert, but thanks to the discussion, the audience also got a glimpse into the background of the star's life. The discussion showed that the life of this exceptional singer is in many ways similar to the situations experienced by a family with two children. However, it differs in the amount of travel, mastery of several foreign languages, and the demands and even dangers of the profession in some situations. Like a pearl, Kateřina revealed moments when the blood in her veins freezes, moments when she can sing her part in high heels high above the stage and act as if nothing happened.

MEDALLION OF KATEŘINA KNĚŽÍKová

One of the most outstanding Czech singers of our time, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková comes from North Moravia. She is a laureate of numerous competitions and shows. In 2018, she was awarded the Classic Prague Awards for the best chamber performance of 2017 together with Kateřina Englichová and was shortlisted for the Thalia Award for the role of Adina in the production of the opera The Drink of Love at the National Theatre in Brno. In 2019, she received the Thalia Award for an extraordinary stage performance in Bohuslav Martinů's opera Julietta or The Dreamer at the Antonín Dvořák Theatre in Ostrava. She collaborates with a number of orchestras and conductors. She regularly performs at international festivals in our country and abroad. She recently became one of the stars of the very prestigious Glyndebourne Opera Festival. Her new solo CD Phidylé, recorded with Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava under the direction of the conductor Roberta Jindry.

As a lecturer, she leads a singing course there, which is very popular every year and always exceeds the course's capacity. "It is then difficult for me to choose students. If it were possible, I would like to teach everyone."," admits Kateřina Kněžíková.

The audience can see how this year's academy students are doing at a concert, which is a novelty of the fourth year of LHAK. They can expect a joint concert, Rising Stars of the Opera Sky, which will take place on Wednesday, August 18 at 19 p.m. in the auditorium of the Secondary Pedagogical School in Kroměříž.

Before that, it will be possible to meet Kateřina Kněžíková at a discussion. Tomáš Netopil, founder and artistic director of LHAK, will ask this exceptional soprano about her life, work, experiences and other topics. There will also be a talk about her recently released solo album Phidylé, recorded with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, which the artist will sign for those interested on the spot. The concert with the apt title "Moravian Kiss of Saxony" filled the majestic space of the historic rotunda almost to the last seat.

At first glance, perhaps an atypical, but characteristic title was chosen for a purely Baroque concert in the authentic setting of the Rotunda in the Flower Garden. In this case, an imaginary kiss is sent to distant Saxony to two musical giants Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 ̶ 1750) and Georg Friedrich Händel (1685 ̶ 1759) Baroque composers – George Muffat (1653 - 1704), By Johann Heinrich Schmelzer (c. 1623–1680) and Heinrichen by Ignaz Franz Biber (1644–1704), whose works are kept in the Kroměříž Music Archive. The music archive itself is unique in terms of its integrity and is one of the most important and largest historical music archives of Central European significance.

Already in the introductory Bach The Concerto for harpsichord and strings in D minor, BWV 1052, from the "Leipzig" period, approximately from 1727-1733, reflects not only virtuosity, but also faith and humility. These ideals are then fully developed in vocal-instrumental compositions. The chorale cantata Jesu, der du meine Seele BWV 78, from which the duet with the gavotte-led bass Wir eilen mit schwachen is derived, contains almost everything that the music of the high Baroque brings – emotional transformations, meditativeness and joyful anticipation, monumentality and intimacy.

The second kiss goes to the native of Halle, Saxony Georg Friedrich Händel.  His work, unlike most of his contemporaries, never disappeared from the consciousness of musicians or audiences and inspired many composers. Under the influence of Italian opera, the three-bar opera seria Serse (Xerxes) HWV 40 was created, premiered in 1738 at the Royal Theatre in London. The opening aria Ombra mai fù is also one of Handel's best-known melodies, and is often heard in an orchestral arrangement under the name Largo.

Compared to these two Baroque greats, the work of the remaining three authors may seem less significant, but the opposite is true. In their time, they were virtuosos and composers active in important musical centers. The composition Sonata Violino Solo, dated 1677, is the only violin sonata known to date. George MuffatThe sonata is characterized by a clear motivic work, which is introduced at the beginning and confirmed by a modified da capo closing the composition. Surprising transitions from major to minor keys, which lead to the enharmonic sound of the middle part of the composition, are also developed in the accompanying harpsichord part, where, as an excellent organist, he gave vent to his desire to experiment with the possibilities of keyboard instruments.

Also Johann Heinrich Schmelzer He was an excellent instrumentalist, he worked as a violinist in the court band at the court of Leopold I and was later appointed imperial court bandmaster. Also thanks to Schmelzer's autographs, the Kroměříž collection is unique and can boast several works that do not appear in other music centers, not even in copies. His Ciaccona in A also reflects the development of violin technique in the Habsburg lands after the main Italian wave.

Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber He was then connected to Kroměříž not only indirectly through his preserved works, but also physically. Although he worked in the service of Bishop Karl of Lichtenstein-Castelkorn only from 1668 to mid-1670, he made an indelible mark on the development of the band. Despite the rift with the bishop after his unexpected departure to Salzburg, he continued to send autographs and copies of his works to the bishop's trumpeter and composer. To Pavel Vejvanovský (c. 1639–1693). However, he also showed himself to be a master of violin technique and his compositional style is based on a more complex elaboration of inner voices and the technical demands of solo violin parts, and from this point of view, Arien à 4 is a true representative of this period in Central Europe.

The program also includes a discussion about Leoš Janáček and an expert forum on the future of culture with the participation of former Minister of Culture Ilja Šmíd, psychiatrist and educator Cyril Höschl, conductor and founder of the academy Tomáš Netopil, and other music experts.

The joint projects of the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy (LHAK) and the Kroměříž Music Festival offer another rich program available to the public. Students who attend the academy this year will play in joint performances for the first time. The Future Masters I. concert will take place on Monday, August 16th at 19 p.m. in the auditorium of the pedagogical school, the Future Masters II. concert will take place at the same location a day later, on Tuesday, August 17th at 19 p.m.

The auditorium will also host two discussions dedicated to music at the beginning of the week. On Monday, August 16 at 17 p.m., musicologist and Leoš Janáček expert, doc. Jiří Zahrádka, will address the question "What was the real Janáček like?"

A new feature of this year's program is the professional Cultural Forum, which will take place on Tuesday, August 17 at 15 p.m. The topic of the debate will be the future of culture, its importance for human development and its current direction. The invitation to the discussion was accepted by former Minister of Culture, musicologist and educator Ilja Šmíd, musicians - lecturers of the LHAK Barbara Maria Willi, general director of the Czech Philharmonic David Mareček, Ivo Kahánek and Tomáš Netopil, psychiatrist and educator Cyril Höschl and director of the Janáček Philharmonic in Ostrava Jan Žemla.

The 4th year of the Kroměříž Summer Music Academy was dignified by a number of personalities who wished the lecturers, students and organizers a peaceful course, a boost of new experiences and personal ties, and pleasant concert experiences for the visitors.

The first concert of this year was not missed by important guests: the Governor of the Zlín Region, Ing. Radim Holiš, the Archbishop of Olomouc and Metropolitan of Moravia, Mons. Jan Graubner, Daniela Hebnarová for the city of Kroměříž, the Kroměříž native and current Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Radek Vondráček, and the violinist from Hradišťan, Jiří Pavlica, also appeared in the audience.

The entire evening was accompanied by the general director of the Czech Philharmonic, David Mareček. Conductor Tomáš Netopil conducted the top violinist Jiří Vodička, as well as a very talented representative of the upcoming generation of young artists, last year's LHAK laureate - holder of the Academy of Classical Music Award, violinist Roman Červinka. The soloists were accompanied by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in Zlín.

The program offered compositions by Johannes Brahms, Niccolò Paganini, Pablo de Sarasate, followed after the break by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky.
