PRESS RELEASE
Academy Kroměříž 2026 presents the program of the 9th year. The week-long classical music festival will bring concerts, discussions and meetings with young talents of the music scene
The 9th Academy Kroměříž festival will take place in Kroměříž from August 13 to 20, 2026. Thanks to its connection with the summer music academy, it can offer the public an extraordinary meeting with great music stars and young promising artists. The program includes a series of concerts and discussions, dramaturgically under the patronage of its founder, world-class conductor Tomáš Netopil.
The festival and summer music academy Academy Kroměříž 2026 will once again transform the historic spaces of Kroměříž into a center of classical music, education, and intergenerational encounters in August. This year's program will bring music lovers symphonic and chamber concerts, open air performances, and discussion formats that will bring the world of music closer from different perspectives.
"For us, the festival is a place where professional art meets the energy and talent of the young generation. Every year, an environment is created here that is unique and inspiring for both performers and audience.", said the executive director of Academy Kroměříž, Jana Kubáčová.
The festival will open on Thursday, August 13th with the concert Ad Astra: Baroque Evening with Simona Šaturová in the Chamber Hall of the Archbishop's Palace, featuring soprano Simona Šaturová, last year's laureate of the academy - baritone Pavel Divín, and the Collegium Colloredo ensemble, which is the festival's resident orchestra, in which Tomáš Netopil plays the violin.
The open air concert in the courtyard of the Kroměříž Art School on Saturday, August 15th will include a performance by the Harafica dulcimer band, which will combine traditional folklore with contemporary sound.
The gala concert with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, conducted by Tomáš Netopil, will take place on Sunday, August 16th in the representative castle's Chamber Hall. They will also be joined by award-winning students from last year's Academy Kroměříž - cellist David Pěruška and violinist Filip Fehér.
This year's academy participants will then perform at four concerts of the Future Masters series, hosted by Kino Nadsklepí from August 17th to 19th.
The popular discussion format will be offered this time on Monday, August 17th by the PATRIOT Magazine Live Talk Show. Jaroslav Kneisl will interview Kroměříž natives and personalities of music and art education, Ivon and Václav Křivánkova, and conductor Tomáš Netopil.
Two days later, at a discussion at the Nadsklepí Cinema, Tomáš Netopil will meet with singing stars of the world stage Kateřina Kněžíková and Štefan Margita.
The last day of the festival traditionally belongs to the Closing Concert of the Academy Kroměříž. On Thursday, August 20, the Academic Chamber Orchestra, composed of students of this year's academy, will perform for the first and last time under the direction of Tomáš Netopil. This year's laureates will also be announced.
The full festival program is listed on its website. https://www.academykromeriz.com/festival-klasicke-hudby/program/. Tickets for individual events can be purchased at the same location. Part of the program is free, and a voluntary contribution can be made on site.
