Academy Kroměříž 2026 will connect young talents with leading musicians. Applications are open
The International Summer Academy, for the ninth time this year in Kroměříž, will offer young musicians an intensive week of lessons, an individual approach and work with leading figures of the Czech and European music scene. Its lecturers will include, for example, Kateřina Kněžíková, Ivo Kahánek and Fedor Rudin from 13 to 20 August 2026. Those interested in studying can apply until 20 May.
This year, the Academy Kroměříž offers lessons in solo music, chamber string ensembles and cultural management. It is intended for students of conservatories, music colleges and young artists who want to further develop their performance skills and gain practical experience in professional music. Applications for the upcoming ninth year are now open. Interested parties can submit their applications on the academy's website until May 20.
" I see Academy Kroměříž as a space for intensive meetings between generations, sharing experiences and honest work on music. We want to offer young artists the most realistic view of the profession of a concert musician and at the same time give them an impetus for further development ," said the co-founder of the academy, conductor Tomáš Netopil, who is also the artistic director of the concurrent festival.
The Academy emphasizes the personal approach of lecturers, systematic work with talent and the connection of study with practice. The lessons will be led by prominent personalities of the contemporary music scene. After a year's break, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková will once again focus on opera singing. Violin lessons will be led by Fedor Rudin and Dalibor Karvay, and piano lessons will be provided by Ivo Kahánek. The cello class will be led by Michaela Fukačová, viola and chamber music lessons by Pavel Nikl, and the academic orchestra by Tomáš Netopil. The area of piano cooperation will be covered by Zdeněk Klauda, and cultural management with a focus on marketing, planning, financing, PR and promotion will be addressed by Marek Šulc, the Academy's executive director Jana Kubáčová and Irena Pohl Houkalová. The latter will share her experience, especially from projects at elementary art schools.
" Our goal is to create an environment where young musicians can focus on their artistic growth, receive valuable feedback, and be inspired by personalities who are active on the international music scene ," explained Jana Kubáčová, adding: " The academy is not just about technique, but also about finding one's own artistic identity and professional orientation ."
The event will take place with the support of the city of Kroměříž.

Who is behind the Academy Kroměříž project?
The main artistic personality of the project and one of the founders is the conductor and Kroměříž native, Tomas NetopilHe is behind the idea of the academy, is its artistic director and prepares the festival's concert program.
Another founder and president of the association is Jana Kubáčová, executive director of the Academy, and director of the Živý Zlín cultural center. She is responsible for the complete operation of the academy.
Other founders and guarantors of the educational part are: Ivona Krivankova, executive director of the Academy of Secondary Education of the Czech Republic, member of the board of directors of the Magdalena Kožená Foundation and director of the Primary School of Arts Kroměříž and director of the PJ Vejvanovský Conservatory Kroměříž Vaclav Krivanek.
The last of the founders is a teacher, first bassoonist and inspector of the Zlín Philharmonic., Michal Kubac, who takes care of the technical security of the academy.
